a timeless June wedding.

June 8, 2024.

My blinker on, I turned left out of our road and drove into the morning sun. Steam rose as the dew evaporated from the heat of the steadily rising temperature. I thought through the day, the timeline, the details the bride most valued, and prayed that God would help me capture them well. (And, “dear Lord please help our cameras to not overheat in this immense heat!”)

Albeit hot, Luke & Heather picked a stunning day for their wedding. Blue skies, full sun, and ripening cherry season. They got married at their home church and set the reception in the barn on the property where the groom was raised. Both sides of the driveway entrance to the reception was lined with fruit trees, which greeted the guests upon their arrival to the reception. The bride planned well each detail of the day, and everything was seamless and elegantly arranged.

I have two favorite moments from the day. One- after Heather shared a tender first look with her dad, I turned around to see Luke’s mom leading him by the hand, his eyes closed, out to meet his beautiful bride. We all chuckled, but it was a sweet sight of a strong bond between mother and son. A rarity in today’s society. Two- again a moment with the others. The confetti still swirling in the air from their sendoff, both moms ran to the car and wished their firstborn’s farewell.

Marriage is a miraculous joining of two lives and hearts- for forever. Although I am privileged to witness such miracles multiple times each year, the awe of such a union never fades. Two individuals, from two separate families becoming their own little family. The Lord has done a beautiful work, and it is marvelous in His eyes!

Luke & Heather, as I left my home the morning of your wedding, my Bible app gave me the verse of the day. I took a screenshot of it because I thought, what a beautiful promise to start a marriage. You may not know what all your years together hold, but God has promised- “My presence shall go with thee; and I will give thee rest.” Ex. 33:14

much love, Kaylyn
